AUTUMN BEGINNERS TANGO COURSE 14TH OCTOBER

Classes are held at Numero Dos 2 Triq il Mastrudaxxa Mosta Tuesdays 7.30 - 9pm

YOU MAY APPLY AS A SINGLE. JUST TURN UP!

.. if you would like to learn this beautiful dance, take it a little seriously and start off with a good foundation. It is also fun to really get to know the other group members and be able to make a joke or two. For this reason our course is 10 weeks.

You will learn, how to dance of course and..

• how to connect with your partner
• about band leaders and musicians
• how to improvise 
• how to navigate the dance floor
• tango rituals
• appropriate dressing 
• body language at the milonga

etc

You may get a class card which costs 90 euros, with which you have 10 entrances for the 10 week course. If you miss a class you do not loose money.

Once you are in, you may take whatever classes there are on the day. On average you will probably be able to take 15 classes. I really want you to learn!!

Tonight at Numero dos there is a Maltese play. A production of one of our tango ladies Dorothy Singh.
The play starts at 8.30 pm Please be seated by then, it finishes by 9 pm so it is very short but very strong. there will be a forum afterwards. Bar available.

Saturday milonga 12th July will not be held at Numero dos but at an old Mediterranean Garden.. We will be meeting at 6.30 pm at St Paul's Bay. and the music will be stopped by 11 pm.
Come in beach wear we will have a swim first. There is a shower if you would like to freshen up for afters. Please bring your own drink and food. Whatever you do not consume please make sure you take everything back with you.

Tango Body with Abby Hoffman

Tango Argentino firstly requires connection, then balance, but always freedom and grace in this most elegant and sensual of dances. However, sometimes it can be hard to find the necessarily fluidity, ease of movement and release of tension, particularly a after long day behind a desk or in a car.

These ongoing workshops are a blend of yoga, anatomy and kinesiology, body work and relaxation techniques - designed especially for tango and tango dancers of all levels. You will leave the session, refreshed, elongated, stretched and nourished from within and take home personalised information for your body and your dance.

Workshop 1. Spine and Axis
In this first workshop, we’ll explore the way the spine moves and influences our movement patterns both on and off the dance floor. Using our own bodies as a laboratory, we’ll delve into some of the anatomy and architecture of the central axis, and the way movement is influenced by tension, compression and gravity.

How we are is how we dance, and so we’ll also investigate some of the movement patterns and habits that we are drawn toward, and explore how to undo unhelpful postural and muscular tension. The session will end with a deep relaxation designed to refresh and restore!

Experience level. This workshop is suitable for all levels of dancer although some experience of yoga is helpful, it is not essential.

About Abby

Dr Abby Hoffmann is a dancer, movement educator and academic researcher. She has also been a yoga practitioner for over 25 years and a teacher of yoga asana for 14. She works in the Performing Arts department at UOM lecturing on dance, movement and yoga to both undergraduate and post-graduate students. A graduate of the Dance Science degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, UK, she specialises in performance enhancement using somatic techniques such as yoga, and is interested in developing regular sessions for dancers on the island. She also offers 1-1 sessions, please get in touch by email if you would like more information.

This session is influenced by the Franklin Method, a blend of imagery and exercises based on biomechanical, anatomical and holistic principles to encourage optimal alignment

The great migration finally has happened phew!!!

And now milongas will be on Saturdays at least till Summer, then we will shall see...it would be nice to have a milonga at the beach every now and then since we cannot flip the dancefloor into a swimming pool at the touch of a button yet  hehe

Dear all i was so busy excuse the absence
sat 8th feb milonga at Numero dos 2 Triq il Mastrudaxxa Mosta. Its pink and it is quircky, and it plays tango :)
Directions:  so you go up constitution str in Mosta nearly at the top..on your right you will find the shop Jade..Turn into Triq il Fortizza. You will see the Pemix Ltd sign, go in triiq il haddied and it is right round the corner behind Pemix ltd

Introductory course for Argentine Tango starting 7th January 2014

Be it a new hobby, a gift to yourself or to a friend its a great way to start the New Year.

The course consists of 5 sessions of 1.5 hrs each

Starting Tuesday 7th January at 8.30 pm X 5 Tuesdays

Venue for the first 4 sessions will be at 62 St Christopher street Valletta.

Then we are probably moving to Mosta.

If you have any friends that would like to start too please write also their names and emails. You may also find me on 79287755.

No special shoes needed. If you have a partner bring him / her along. If not try to find one and if you do not manage just come along, there are always helpers. We rotate.

Fee is 50 euros for the whole course,  if you work. If you do not work then i give good discounts.
