Tango Argentino - Primeros Pasos

Argentine tango is a beautiful dance and it has attracted the attention of most major cities in the world. Even here in Malta we have a group of tango enthusiasts who are only too happy to pass on their knowledge of this addictive dance.

Time: 7.30pm

Price:
€50 per person / €35 for full-time students & senior citizens.
€25 for those that would like to repeat the course.

Apart from these lessons, we also meet every week for our regular Milonga (the social event where Tango is danced), and other activities.

A €10 discount voucher will be given for Tango shoes from Locatelli Tango Shoes.

Dress: What you want, normally, casual.
Shoes: Followers (usually women) are advised to wear well supported shoes with some heel - no flipflops please. Leaders (usually men) are advised to wear round toed shoes or gym shoes. Long pointed shoes make life difficult.

Dance partner: No need for a fixed partner.

IMPORTANT: Payment can be effected on the first lesson. Please arrive a little earlier. NO refunds will be issued for missed classes, unless informed at the beginning of the course.

For those of you that are enjoying the Primeros Pasos and would like to continue, the next level would be Principiantes.

If you still feel very shaky on the elements that you've done in the Primeros, you may repeat the course at half price (€20).The primeros pasos will be held on the same dates as the Principiantes but at 7.30pm. You may also take both classes in parallel so that you continue consolidating the elements of Primeros Pasos, whilst learning new elements.

18th November 2009: Followers Tecnica Class

A Followers' Tecnica class by Jelena Ivanovic will be held on Wednesday 18th November at 8pm at the University Common Room. This session is ideal for followers who are either at Intemediate level, or about to join the intermediate level. Due to the limit in the number of places available, we will be giving a first preference to those who are regularly taking classes with Nathalie and Gordon, and to those who practice on a regular basis (Milongas and practicas).

Price: €15 per person

How to apply:

* Please apply in pairs and in your email indicate who your partner is. If you are attending both groups, indicate who your partner is for each of the groups.

Principiantes October Cycle

Nathalie is happy to announce the start of a new Principiantes course with a different structure. Principiantes will now be set over an indefinite length of time going over different elements without classes repeating themselves. You will apply for 4 lessons at a time (one cycle) , with the idea that you stay at Principiantes level until you start feeling that they are too easy and you can cope with them well, after which you can move to the Intermedios classes. Principiantes is intended for those who have taken the Primeros Pasos at least once.

Maestro Eric Jeurissen has over 20 years of experience in Teaching Argentine Tango and is particularly known for his ability to explain movements with simple and clear methods. He is the founder of El Corte, one of the leading schools in Europe. Furthermore, Eric travels the world giving workshops in many countries. These workshops are not to be missed.

Principiantes Private Group

Although you are doing well, it is quite normal to feel rather shaky after doing the Principiantes only once, and most people need to steady themselves more before they continue.

For this reason, along side with your creativo I was considering to do group private classes to repeat Principiantes elements, on 3 consecutive Mondays the 14th ,21st, 28th Sept at the cost of 15 euros per person for the 3 classes.

You would need to apply in couples.

Important Note: If there are elements of Principiantes that you feel you have not yet mastered, we recommend that you re-take those sessions at half price (check out with Nathalie for details). Elements from Principiantes (such as giro and ocho cortado) will be used extensively and obviously we will be assuming that you are fluent in their use, and we will not be re-explaining those elements.
